Why do you do bodybuilding? This is a question that I get asked all the time, and most of the time when this question is asked people are genuinely interested into why I choose to workout everyday and follow a very strict diet every time I prep for a show. A lot of people don’t understand the sport, or the diet, or even the workout regime, and I don’t expect anyone to. It takes a lot of work, dedication, will power, and strength to do this sport. It’s not an easy sport, it’s not the most fair sport, and it is a highly subjective sport. There are many times that I leave a show confused by the inconsistency of the judging but that is not why I love this sport. I started this sport last year at the end of July/early August and I’ve never looked back! I love this sport and what it does for me, not just physically, but for me as a whole person. This sport challenges me in all aspects of my life. This sport challenges me to be the best version of myself. I have never been stronger, or more physically capable in my whole life! This sport forces me to be more organized, I have to meal prep, and schedule out my week so that I can fit all the workouts, clients, meetings etcetera into my life. I have a lot more work/life balance because of this sport. This sport keeps me focused, motivated and driven. Everyday I have something that I’m working towards, everyday I’m growing as a person, physically, mentally, and emotionally. I have always been passionate about fitness, and I am so happy that I have found a sport that further ignites this passion of mine. My ultimate goal is to earn my Pro Card and become a Professional Bodybuilder, but not just that, I want that to be my career where I can make a living doing the sport I love.
How I got into doing Bodybuilding Shows?
Well the very honest answer is, a boy got me into doing shows. I met a very attractive guy off of Tinder (lol I know how this looks trust me) who is a competitive bodybuilder and we dated for about a month and he is the reason why I got the courage to compete in shows. Pretty much every time I saw him when we first started dating he would tell me that I should compete. That I could do a show in 3 months, that I could do bikini and do well if I did a cut for 3 months. He literally told me this constantly and it was burning my brain. Now, to be honest I have always thought about doing a show, and I once told myself that my goal was to have a show body one day but not actually compete. Because I never actually decided on a deadline, I never achieved that goal, and I never entered into competitions because I thought it would be too expensive. Long story short, because of him I looked into upcoming OPA events and there was a show in Mississauga at the Meadowvale theatre 3 months from when we were talking. I always used to have my dance recitals out of Meadowvale theatre, so I took that as a sign from the universe that this was my chance to do a show. So I got my OPA membership that day and told the entire world (friends, family, and clients) that I was going to do a show on November 8th at Meadowvale Theatre. The show was called The GNC Inside Fitness Championships. Ever since then I have never looked back, and here I am 8 weeks out from my second show!
